A little background for y'all...
My boyfriend Eric loves to climb and his favorite playground to date is Rocky Mountain National Park. We were last there in August of 2004.
He's been out there on his own or with his best friend for the past couple of winters. I, myself love to hike, camp & ice climb. :) Now that our little one, Nicklaus is 3.5 years old, he would love to take him out there.
Fast forward to 2 months ago...
We're planning a trip out there the second week of March 2009. There's bumming around town, hiking, a night or two of camping & climbing on the agenda. I've invited my parents and both of my younger brothers. Al is a definate in while Jeff says that it's too far out to decide. Go figure!
There's quite the elevation change and I'm not in shape anymore. Pre-bambino, I played hockey regularly and that kept me in tip-top shape. Now that I haven't played in 3.5 years, I can't go up a flight of stairs without getting slightly winded. That's pretty bad. :(
So I gotta start running again or skating or something. They are putting the ice rink up on Fountain Square right now...that's a possibility! There are a bunch of folks here at work doing the 100 push-ups thing. It looks easy enough and it'll whip my core, arms, pecs and back into shape. Famous last words, eh? :)
Don't look now! Gratuitous shot of Eric in RMNP...my fav actually. :)

I love Colorado!! Our youngest son is a teacher in Telluride. We hope to visit him next summer. We've been to RMNP and it is the best. Estes Park has to be the cutest town around. My goal is to live in the Loveland area one day! That picture is fantastic!!
It's such a beautiful state! We always drive when we go out there even though it's about a 20 hr drive. I hope you enjoy your visit next summer! Hopefully the visit and the eventual move comes to fruition. :)
Thanks!
Mmmm never been to Colorado unless you count when I was flying to California and like 4,000 feet up in air... Beautiful pics... I'd love to go hiking and mountain climbing but I am very scared of heights and super not athletic. Great plan to get in shape! You better stick with it =D!!
I'm jealous! Bob and I made an attempt on Longs eight years ago, but turned back at the Keyhole because of unbelievable winds. (I know, sounds wimpy, but just about everyone was turning back that day.) Ever since then it's been bugging me! I'll be back....
Please don't be jealous! You guys did the right thing. She'll still be out there! Better to be safe than sorry, especially out there as there are usually storms in the afternoon on Longs.
When we did it, we started out at 2am, summited around 10:30am and were down in the treeline by 2pm. As we were crossing the Boulderfield on the way down, there were a lot of folks on there way up. :O
